Film Theory and History : Independent Study 25% of final mark Rationale, script and annotated list of sources for a documentary about an aspect of film theory/history based on a study of 4 films minimum from more than one country. 12-15 pages with a rationale of no more than 100 words. 25% of final mark Rationale, script and annotated list of sources for a documentary about an aspect of film theory/history based on a study of 2 films minimum from more than one country. 8-10 pages with a rationale of no more than 100 words.
Creative Process : Practical Production 50% of final mark Completed short film of 6-7 minutes (including titles) with a trailer of 40-60 seconds. A rationale for the film of no more than 100 words. A rationale for the trailer of no more than 100 words. WRITTEN COMMENTARY of no more than 1750 words. 50% of final mark Completed short film of 4-5 minutes (including titles). A rationale of no more than 100 words. WRITTEN COMMENTARY of no more than 1200 words.

The course is therefore structured in order to build towards these 3 main assessments (which will all, of course, be submitted in Year 13). There are several opportunities for students to practise using the formats of these assessments and to build the necessary knowledge and understanding required to achieve the highest possible grades.
